re:place is a project of Derbyshire Arts Development Group
re:place was an ambitious two-year curated programme of site-specific contemporary visual arts commissions and installations across Derbyshire of regional and national significance. It ran throughout 2008 - 2011.
re:place had three manifestations:

>> Site-specific commissions – at least two major commissions, four intermediate commissions and four bursaries over two years.
>> Non-commissioned programme – curating existing work, and touring work in collaboration with partners.
>> Badging and support for artist-led projects throughout the county

Alec Finlay - white peak | dark peak Main Commission Peak District Alec's intention was to creatively map ‘white peak’, using a hybrid form that he calls a word-map.
Kate Genever Intermediate Commission S11 7TZ Kate's proposal outlined a practice based intensive period of research and making on two working farms in the Peak District in order to reveal and celebrate their unique homemade tools and technologies.
Matthew Smith Intermediate Commission Tibshelf Services, DE55 5TZ Matthew's practice seeks to question how we think about nature, exploring how our ideas of landscape and the rural are mediated through the lens of mass culture.
The Centre of Attention Bursary Sutton Scarsdale Hall, S44 5UR The pavilion of postcontemporary curating: a semi-staged total art work
Bruce Rimell Bursary Creswell Crags Around one hundred Perspex (acrylic polycarbonate) art objects, which draw their inspiration from the inscribed art and archaeology of the Palaeolithic caves at Creswell Crags, were deposited in various locations around Derbyshire.
Sandarbh UK Bursary Belper Belper based artist Ivan Smith put together an international artist residency project from 1 - 18 May 2009. Over the past six years over 250 artists have come together at the Sandarbh workshop in India and have created many works with the participation of local people, which has created a genuine interest and curiousness about art, and how society and art can come together. This was the first reciprocal residency in Derbyshire.
Charlotte A Morgan Festivals Chesterfield MarketPlace is a site specific event which took place at Chesterfield Art & Markets Festival from Thu 29 - Sat 31 October 2009. The project addresses changes in global and local trade and their influence on the structure of towns and cities, exploring the local and global manifestations of the marketplace and its shifting position socially, spatially and economically.
Wirksworth Festival Festivals Wirksworth In 2009 re:place supported Wirksworth Festival, specifically showing work by Alec Finlay and Kate Genever, both commissioned for re:place, and a new Contemporary Art Focus weekend.
